I have just spent the last 30 minutes watching "A War For Your Soul." I am still wiping moisture from my eyes. As a young man, riding in a car with my father (1950's) to Mobile Alabama, we came upon a gravel road and had to stop for a bathroom break (as you are aware, going to a restaurant or a southern bathroom was completely out of the question). In the distance we saw a large crown standing around a tree and "wailing." From its limbs was a black man hanging. Police cars were nearby but doing nothing. My dad ushered me and my bursting bladder back into the car and we drove past the "police" who were laughing and smiling on the side of the road.
After about 5 miles and finding a drainage ditch, and almost peeing on myself, I along with other members in our car, including my grandmother, relieved ourselves.
Every black child, teen or young adult (Even many adults)should see this video. Every Juvenile Justice court in every US county should MANDATE the black youth entering juvenile justice adjudication to watch this video REPEATEDLY until they get it.

There are a few succesful ones, but as a whole, we are really messing up and forgetting about the struggle and suffering that was placed upon our ancestors just to do the things we refused to do such as reading, writing, learning, and being succesful and smart. I am in the 10th grade and I really see how bad our race is depleting just by looking and listening to my peers. This is a really serious problem. I was emailed this eye opening, soul searching, hold back my tears because I’m at work sort film by a friend of mine. I could not email what was sent to me to enough people. I had to stop long enough to find how might I contact you to see how I may obtain a DVD of this. I feel in my heart that after seeing this film it is my duty as a BLACK MAN to share this with all that I may come in contact with. Your words should be echoed through every church, urban school and Black neighborhood in the United States. Wow Reggie, I was not expecting that big of a response. Yes, I Would love for you to come to our school to speak. The city that I teach in unfortunately is high in gang activity. Every new school year when we ask the students to fill out their goal/profile sheets for the marking period one of the questions asked is what do you fear most in life? An overwhelming 80% of our kids will answer in this way: I fear of getting jumped, shot and/or killed by the hands of my peers who are involved in gang activity.
Reggie I understand when you say you are doing this in the spirit of our lost ones. But it is far bigger than that, this is Gods work now and there is no stopping it. Believe me when I tell you everyone in my email received that link and of course just like I thought they they responded back in overwhelming numbers.

My cousin that was murdered name is Ejarvous Hayes he was seventeen years old. He was raised in a GOD fearing family. His mother raised him and his sister in the church. His sister holds a master degree in business and his mother retired from the hospital. We are a very supportive family.
The situaution as we know it was that his friends from his same neighborhood were apart of different gangs and he wouldn't take sides because he grew up with them both and he didn't want to chose sides so he just hung out with them when they weren't with their gangs. Then one of his friends was murdered two weeks before him and it was said that he may have been in the house in the bathroom when the people came in the house and shot his friend in the head. He never said anything to the family if he witnessed this at all. The rumor got in the street that he may have been there and knew who did it and the police had been questioning him. July 13, 2007 at 1000 a.m. his mother dropped him off at the barber shop to get a hair cut and at 1045 a.m. she recieved a call from the crime scene investigator that she needed to come identify her son. When she got there it was in fact her son. He was a little guy with a great big heart. He loved life and the people in it. His girlfriend at the time was pregnant and he was so excitied about that. She gave birth to a son that year that she named Ejarvous Hayes II (EJ) That was just a little more about him! Please feel free to share this with whoever will listen .

Remember, the day I wrote you?... We had three fights at my High School. They jumped a boy in the bathroom. The bathroom was full of blood. I want you to hear the next part of this story Reggie...About 15 students jumped him...when the Principal asked him to identify the students,guess what he said???...I'm no snitch...can you believe that? He even told the custodian you are a fool for cleaning up my blood...the custodian said "you are a fool for those guys beating you, and not telling. Reggie, these young people are very angry and they don't like themselves that's why they don't have a heart for other people. I forgot to mentioned the other two fights were girls. The girls are off the chain.. a lot of them have the spirit of a male. This is a very angry generation of young people...many of them can't read, and they are frustrated...they act out in class because they don't understand the material..they come to school strickly for the social aspect. We both know t it's not everybody...but the good kids are attracted to bad kids for whatever reason...who knows the mystery behind motivation??? I am going to ask the Principal to have a meeting with all of the males in the school and show your powerful video.. This DVD need to get out to the masses..you have created a masterpiece...I hope you can reach every media outlet in the country.... The Black community is in a state of Emergency!!!

Someone sent me an email and I saw something that spoke to me. I want all the people which will come to our classes to see this DVD that you have created. I believe the Lord raised you up at this hour to cause mindsets to change, and I thank Him for this, and I thank you for allowing us to see this. My brother, a police officer in the state of Washington told me about it after his wife told him. He wanted to make sure I saw it, and he sat on the phone with me while I watched. He and I talk almost every night, and we share our thoughts about the state of our black youth. When I retire, he and I want to start an institute to bring history and understanding to them. I was talking with one of my aunts' and I ask the question: "How do people sleep at night knowing that have not been honest or done evil things to people"? May I say what a wonderful insight you have. I have tried to get this message out to our people for so long. some listen some don't. This is the most innovative method I have seen to date.
I have been saying to young people they are willingly taking part in a new version of slavery. With quite a few musical artists taking the place ot 'house slaves'.

I have a 10 yr old son and a 12 yr old daughter and I have to instill messages like this into them everyday because we live in a predominately white town (because the surrounding area's where there are more of us, the schools are horrible) and you know the schools don't get into depth about Black History, they only go so far as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks (maybe this year they will add President Obama to the list) , so it's up to me to teach them about our history and our future. Fortunately, for me both of my children are Honor Roll Students and have had perfect attendance since they began school. This film needs to be shown in all schools as well as all over the internet. I will be watching this film again with my children so they can again see what it was like for us as a people and how it's going to be if we continue to base everything we have and love on negativity. I'm going to absolutely inform EVERYONE I know about this film, so they too; can watch it with their children as well, EVERY black person needs to see this short film!! I THANK you for this film and wish you the best in your endeavors!!! I was wondering if there was a way that people can get copies of this film? I look forward to seeing more of your films and I wish you nothing but success in all you do.

I think your video is great and so true ...I see this kind of genicide in my neighborhood in more subtle wyas than one would like to know until the bomb goes off and another person is dead or gone. I am so thankful for your contribution to this struggle, the rage of warfare on the souls of our young males and females in our race.

God is truly amazing! My name is Pat P. and I am director of Multicultural Education and also director of African American History. Yesterday, I received an email from a white teacher crying for help because of how her African American students treat each other, frequently using the "N" word (see attachment). I shared this with my office manager and that is when your DVD came into my life. Someone had sent it to her and when I arrived at work this morning, she had forwarded it to me. Just tell me what I need to do to get it in my hands a.s.a.p. It will be done. Also know that it will not be used to scare Black youth in to a position of change. It will be used to help them understand the legacy left to them by their ancestors and their responsibility to uphold that legacy. Thank you, I was so moved by this video. I grew up in the inner city of Detroit, I have seen more crime then I care to remember. I am so greatful that God has used you to teach are young and older generations the truth. My mother told me to look at is and to decide if it is appropriate for my kids it see it, ages 11, 9 and 7, after I saw it I thought it would be inappropriate if I didn't. We are are kids first teachers and they need to know the truth. So thank you again.
